Gifts to Share

I’ve always been envious of people who have the creative gene in them. You know, the scrap bookers, the crafty souls who can turn a room into a wonderland for a birthday party, the people who can make a beautiful gift basket out of items picked off a shelf in a specialty shop.

I was not blessed with said creative gene. No, I have an ops mind. I can look at a process or a project and can pretty quickly tell you how to get it done efficiently. I can set up an assembly line in record time and can make my way through a grocery store like a ninja. But, creative Nah, not me.

By now you are wondering, “Ok, Kim, where are you going with this?” Well, my point is, we have all been blessed with gifts and talents. We all have things we love to do, and things we are very good at doing. My question is, how are you using these talents?

God wants us to share the gifts he’s blessed us with. For instance, if you love to sew, have you considered making blankets for patients at the local VA hospital, women’s shelter or cancer treatment center? If you love to bake, why not whip up a dozen of your favorite cookies and deliver them to the elderly couple in your neighborhood who aren’t able to get around like they used to? If you are a crafty person, why not schedule a time at the local assisted living facility, or youth home and work with the residents on a craft project?

I don’t believe God has placed us on this earth to simply live our lives. I believe we are here for a purpose. We are here to first, love the Lord our God with all our hearts, and to love one another as our Lord loves us. We are here to lift each other up, to support each other, and to bring others to see the love of Christ. What better way to do this than to share gifts and talents we have.

So, give some thought to exploring and more importantly, sharing your talents. God has blessed us all, let’s give thanks for those blessings by sharing them for the good.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
Now may, our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and through grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope, comfort your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.
