What if Every Day was Saturday

Ahhh… Saturday Morning! If you’re like me, it’s usually the only morning you get to sleep in. Well a little anyway. I’ll be honest, when I go to bed on Friday nights, I’m usually way more relaxed. I hop in to bed knowing, I don’t have to set the dreaded alarm.

Saturday morning routine is a little more laid back. Sitting on the lanai with a cup of coffee. I listen to the wildlife, watch the otters, the birds, and all the other critters around here. It’s just such a different feeling on Saturday mornings, relaxed, thankful, blessed.

Let me ask you a question…Is your relationship with Father like your Saturday mornings? What I mean is, are you as comfortable, relaxed, thankful, and blessed in your relationship with God as you are on a Saturday morning? I can honestly say I am not. As I thought about what to write for this blog, this is what came right to mind; how can I make my relationship with Father as relaxed and comfortable as my Saturday mornings?

I think sometimes we try to make our relationship with Father a “formal” one. I truly don’t believe that’s what God wants. Of course we need to show respect to our creator, however, I think he wants a loving, can’t do without you relationship. You know, the relationship you have with that person you call first when something life changing happens. Is it Father?

Take some time today, Saturday, to work on your relationship with God. Talk to him. Ask him to help you be more engaged. Ask him to help you to come to him first with everything, not last when everything is falling apart.

God has blessed each of us in so many ways. What better way to say thank you than to build a relationship so relaxed, that God truly becomes our best friend. You know, the best friend you would spend every Saturday with as a kid 🙂

Psalm 80:14
Turn now, O God of hosts, look down from heaven; behold and tend this vine; preserve what your right hand has planted.
