I find myself, now more than ever, talking with Father. My conversations and prayers are very different than before. My relationship has changed, it’s more meaningful, to me at least, not sure about him, but I like to think it’s more meaningful for him too 🙂
I talk with Father throughout the day, probably like most people do. You know, there is the, “Please Lord, give me the strength to handle this call”, or “God, please guide me through this meeting with clarity”, or yes, even the “Lord, I really need to not be around this person right now”. But, more than just those in-the-moment conversations, I do start my day and end my day with him…quietly. I actually started this schedule with Father last September when I was at a conference in Orlando, (I was the meeting planner). God helped me through those days when over 1000 people met for the first time in almost two years. I can honestly say, Father, was with me and all of us those days. The event was amazing and I found a renewed relationship with God. Now almost a year later, my routine with him hasn’t changed, it’s actually gotten deeper.
I usually sit on my lanai each morning before the sun comes up and each evening after the sun has gone down. It’s quiet, and I can look at the stars and the moon, just envisioning God looking back down at me. There is a connection for sure. There is a peace and a calm that settles in, no matter how crazy the day has been, or how I know it’s probably going to be. And there…I start or end my day with prayers for forgiveness, prayers for guidance, and most importantly prayers of thanks. This time is a daily grounding for me, it sets me back to center and reminds me of why I’m here.
If you don’t have a routine talking with Father, why not start today? Nothing fancy, just share with him your thoughts, your fears, your joys, whatever comes to your heart. God wants relationships with his Children, I’ve said that before. He is always with us and he will never forsake us. So go ahead, find a special place to share your heart with Father, I’m pretty sure you will soon find it becomes your routine 🙂
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
