Look Past the “Why”

Life tosses us curve balls at times. Probably more times than we care to admit much less enjoy. Sometimes those curve balls are good things and we manage to swing and hit them out of the park. Then, there are those times when the curve balls come in so fast you don’t even have time to choke up on the bat.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably found yourself asking “Why God?” Why is this happening to me, to us? It’s a natural response to an unexpected situation, and I believe it’s our way of saying help me. So, what if, instead of saying, Why God, we said, help me Lord to understand the plan you have for me because your plan is all that matters?

I’ve found over the past few years that God has tried to show me a path, and perhaps I’m not always listening. Then when he’s finished “nudging”, he’ll get a little more forceful in showing me. And then of course there are those times when he doesn’t want to nudge at all, he simply wants me to get his message on the first try. Sometimes these are painful lessons, sometimes they are happy lessons, but all the time they are loving lessons of growth.

Father has a plan for each of us. We need to be open to listening to his guidance. Don’t be locked into the “things”, be locked into God’s love. Be grounded in Faith, and know that we are special. We are his children, he loves us, and if we allow ourselves to look past the why, then we open the door to living fully in Christ.

John 14:12
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
