So our youngest daughter is pretty picky when it comes to her food “touching”. She’s been this way as long as I can remember. You know, her food is totally separated on her plate. The potatoes don’t touch the meat, and the meat doesn’t touch the veggie. At breakfast, oh my don’t let the eggs touch the fruit! π
As our youngest has grown into adulthood, it’s become quite the humorous family joke. Because, at the ripe old age of 31 she still separates things on her plate!
Well, we are enjoying a long weekend with her and other family members this weekend and last night, our niece jokingly set one of those elementary school plates at my youngest’s place setting. She actually grudgingly gave it up for a standard dinner plate. We all laughed while playing remember when!
As I looked at that plate though, it made me think about separation. How many times have we separated ourselves from Father because we don’t think we need him, “we got this”. How many times do we not let God in because we don’t feel we are worthy? How many times do we feel slighted because we think Father hasn’t answered our prayer.
Well, I firmly believe that we always need Father. Are we worthy of God? Well, I guess my thought is, if we weren’t worthy of him, why did he create us? Of course we are worthy, but, are we truly and honestly seeking his grace? When it comes to him answering our prayers, well, yes many times he has, and we just don’t like the answer.
So, don’t use that compartmental plate. Ask Father to come into your life. Ask him to help you along this path called life. Grow into him, so that he becomes your best friend. Never feel slighted, because at the end of the day, it’s his plan.
God is with us, he will NEVER forsake us. And…I’m guessing there won’t be these little lunch plates in Heaven. We need to mix it all together!
2 Peter 1:4
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the worldβs corruption caused by human desires.
