Comfy Shoes

Yesterday I was packing for my trip. Like most ladies, I have to stand in my closet and decide which shoes I’m going to take. I have this event, that event, I need to be able to log the 30,000 steps each day, etc. Ya, it’s a chore for sure!

Well, as I was struggling with which shoes to pack for a particular outfit, a lightbulb went off, duh, I thought, I’ll take my “hey dudes”. My youngest got me hooked on this brand several years ago. Anyone who knows the Hey Dude line knows what I mean. Canvas shoes, are comfy as can be and very easy to wash. Yep, I have a couple of pairs of these babies, and into the suitcase one of those pairs went.

As soon as I dropped that pair into the bag I thought, “Just like a comfy pair of shoes, that’s my relationship with Father”. You know when you grab your favorite pair of shoes, you slip them on and all is good. Well, yep, that pretty much describes how I feel about God. I know he’s always there, my relationship is comfy, and all is right.

Maybe I’m simplifying things more than I should, but does our relationship with Father have to be complicated? Heaven’s no, in my opinion, it should be just the opposite. We should talk with him directly, don’t beat around the bush, don’t bargain, don’t sugarcoat, and don’t expect him to do that either. Sometimes that’s the hardest part of the relationship when we get a straightforward sign we weren’t expecting 🙂

So, this morning as you are getting ready for work or school or whatever you are doing, take a glance at those shoes. What the heck, grab the comfiest pair you have and slip them on before you head out, and spend some quality time with Father when you do. Oh, and don’t blame me if your boss suggests that you might NOT want to wear your UGG slippers to work again 🙂

Ephesians 4:6
One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
