Simplicity

Last night hubs and I were watching a movie. Ya, I made him watch an old Hallmark movie like this one was from 2015 πŸ™‚ We needed a little break from stressful things like hurricane prep.

Well, this movie was about a woman who opened a vintage wedding dress store. The basis of the movie was about the simple beauty of things in the past. Wedding dresses that were simple but elegant, food that was simple but delicious, ceremonies that were simple but so meaningful.

I have to admit, the way the movie ended made us think of our wedding over 35 years ago. Our wedding was very simple with just family. We didn’t have a big church wedding, with multiple attendants and a 5-tier wedding cake. Simple service with a family dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. It was simple, elegant, and meaningful. And…this year we celebrated 35 years of marriage, so I think we’re doing ok. Don’t misunderstand, I’m not knocking big weddings. I’ve been to many amazing weddings, and they are all wonderful. I’m just saying that I don’t think you need a large one to make things beautiful and special.

I guess my relationship with Father is similar to our wedding. It’s simple but it’s meaningful. I spend time with him every day, talk with him like I would my best friend, show respect when I worship him, you get the idea. I don’t judge others’ relationships with God, that is between them and Father. I just know what works for me.

This Sunday morning, I hope you can spend some time with Father. Some simple time with him, to say thank you and to ask for guidance as we go into another week. Oh and, toss in a couple more prayers for our Sunshine State, (Ian is still heading this way). Father wants a true and meaningful relationship with his children. Let’s open the door and let him in πŸ™‚

1 Peter 3:15
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
