Canning

I’m headed out to spend the morning with some very talented ladies at our church. I’ve been working on the “gourmet canners” committee for the last few years, and this morning, it’s Red Pepper Jelly πŸ™‚ . I’ve never made red pepper jelly, but I hear it’s really good and I’m anxious to know more about it.

You see the Gourmet Canners is just one of several groups at our church that uses their gifts and talents to create special treasures for our annual Christmas Market. Our canner booth will be filled with homemade goodies like our famous mango chutney, strawberry jam, bourbon bbq sauce and so many more. Funds raised from the sale of these items go to our outreach program to give back to the community, like the Laces of Love organization I mentioned in yesterday’s little blog.

Our Gourmet Canners have been meeting weekly over the past months, chopping, stirring, processing, and so on. I’ve met some wonderful women and have learned so much. If you had told me several years ago that I would be in the kitchen canning veggies, jams, chutneys, and such, I would have said “Ya, right…”. Truth is, I enjoy it. I’m using some talents to make products that people really love and I’m learning some new skills to create. Just what Father wants us to do, learn, create and share.

We all have gifts and talents to share. The question is, how do we share them? So on this Saturday morning, as you read this with your coffee or tea, I encourage you to give thought to what talents you have. How can you use them to help others? With the Holidays coming, it might just be the perfect time to dust off those skills and put them to use to help and brighten someone else’s day.

Enjoy your Saturday friends, oh and I’ll let you know how the red pepper jelly turns out πŸ™‚ .

Romans 12:6
Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith.
