Time Change

Well, like many, I’m not a member of the “yay we get an extra hour of sleep” club when we change the clocks back in the fall. Ya, I get that it’s lighter earlier, but what that also means is it’s darker earlier. The waking up in the dark and getting off work in the dark, ugh, it’s just, well, it’s dark. I don’t like that we’re trying to grill as the sun is setting, and I don’t like that you have to almost make a plan to see the sunsets I love to capture, because they are so much earlier. Ok, ok, I’m done whining.

Truth is, I look forward to December 21st. Yes, it’s the shortest day of the year, but, that means the days start getting longer on December 22nd. I realize they are getting longer by a minute or so in the beginning, but it’s just a mental thing, you know, ahhhhh the days are getting longer and we have more sunshine 🙂 . I truly believe that our bodies and our perspectives are stronger and more positive when we have sunshine. Even if it’s bitterly cold, things always seem better when you can see those rays of the sun.

It may sound silly but I think God prefers giving us sunlight. I realize that it’s necessary to go through the darkness to get to the other side. That goes for many things in this life, as we’ve recently experienced with Ian for instance. But, on the other side, the sun does rise, hope abounds, and the love of Father shines brightly through those rays of sunlight.

So on this Sunday (pun intended), as you enjoy your coffee and your extra hour of sleep, lift some thanks to Father for the gift of the sun. Oh, and just a reminder, only 45 days until December 21st 🙂 .

Ecclesiastes 11:7
Light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to see the sun.
