Special Gifts

So, recently I shared the story about our family piano, and how it made its way from Illinois down here to Florida. It sits now in our family/living room, has been tuned, and I can’t wait to teach myself how to play, (maybe with the help of “learning how to play piano for dummies”).

What I didn’t share was something just as special as the piano itself. Many years ago, our friend Mary, whom you all met in this little blog post, made a cushion for my husband’s family piano bench. This needlepoint is priceless to us. The love that we feel each time we see it, which is daily, is indescribable. For starters, I’m in awe of anyone who has this kind of talent, and then of course we’re honored that anyone would devote this time to a gift for us. Mary and her late husband Tom are dear friends, no, they are family, plain and simple.

God brings people into our lives for a reason. We are here to support each other and to love one another and when the difficult times come, we are here to carry each other through. Don’t underestimate your ability to give comfort, strength, and happiness to someone who might need it the most. Don’t miss the opportunity to grow a relationship. Father wants his children to be one, let’s not disappoint him.

Thank you Mary for this special gift. We cherish it, and we cherish our friendship.
