I can’t believe how fast time flies. I know there is a saying the older we get, the faster time passes, well now that I’m old, I get it 🙂 .

It seems like yesterday when I saw you for the first time. You were incredibly perfect. I will never forget your first cry, your first smile, and the first time you laughed. You see, my sweet Granddaughter Dakota, you are a gift from heaven. God has blessed us with you, my sweet child.

Today, on your birthday, Opa and I want to say how incredibly proud of the woman you have become, although to us you will always be “little Dakota”. We cannot wait to watch you step into your future with all the boldness you have, taking on whatever comes your way. Don’t ever let yourself think that you cannot do something. You have the strength to do great things, and you have what it takes to overcome any challenge, learn new things, and pursue the things you are passionate about.

Not too long ago, well, maybe a little longer ago than that, I held your mother for the first time, I remember her first cry, the way she smiled, the first time she laughed. She too is a gift from God, and she gave us you 🙂

So, enjoy your day today “little Dakota”, knowing that we love you to the moon and back. This special birthday prayer is for you.

Watch over thy child, O Lord, as her days increase; bless and guide her wherever she may be. Strengthen her when she stands; comfort her when discouraged or sorrowful; raise her up if she fall; and in her heart may thy peace which passeth understanding abide all the days of her life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
