Transforming

Yesterday was our annual Christmas market at Church. I mentioned in this little blog a few weeks ago how all the proceeds raised from sales at this market go to our community outreach. Of course this event is very festive and there is Christmas everywhere, it’s also a labor of love for so many. From homemade jams, chutney and baked goods, to the amazing hand crafted Christmas decorations to the local vendors who brought their specialty items, our Parish Hall, (which also currently serves as our sanctuary due to Ian), was transformed to a beautiful market.

Friday night and yesterday the market was filled with shoppers. Young and old came out to get a jump on holiday gift buying. It was great to see so many come to support not only our church but to support the community. I heard so many people say over the last few days how “we don’t miss this market, we come every year”.

As the market closed yesterday, people moved in to take down and reset mode. It just happened, boxes packed, greenery and lights removed and stored, tables broken down and moved. The altar was put back in its place and set for Sunday service. The Parish Hall was now transformed back into the sanctuary for this morning’s service.

God’s children came together this weekend and just did. We transformed space, but more importantly, we’ll help to transform lives. I believe that’s what matters most, the ability for God’s children to show his love and to transform bad into good.

Thanks to everyone who came out this weekend to help make it a wonderful event, and thanks to everyone who worked tirelessly to make it special. Happy Sunday everyone!

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
