Things that Bind Us

When we lived back in IL I was fortunate to find an amazing group of ladies when I joined a small fitness group. This group, (the Chix in Training), was and is so much more than dragging yourself to an exercise routine. No, this was something I looked forward to three days a week. I welcomed getting up at 4:00am on those mornings, getting to class a little early, and hanging with this supportive, encouraging group of women. Starting each Monday with a bible verse that set the tone for our week, learning not just about fitness but food choices, learning about our families, helping each other through life challenges, and yes pushing each other to better ourselves, these were just a few of the ways we bonded.

In the warmer months we would take our workouts outside, running up hills, and using playground equipment, it was different and fun. Often we’d be starting those workouts before the sun rose. We’d all comment on how beautiful the moon was as we were driving to camp. Then not long after getting started someone would say, “look at that sunrise”. It’s become a thing to share pictures of the sun and moon rises in our private FB chat, a chat that many who have moved away are still part of. We are still bound together even though we are physically apart.

Last night while we were grilling dinner, I looked up to see the most beautiful moon in the sky. I instantly thought of my Chix friends and can’t even tell you the feeling that came over me. I smiled and thought of so many memories, and yes had to post that picture in our group. The responses were almost instant.

You see I know that Father brings people into our lives for reasons we sometimes may never know. I believe, he brought these incredible people into my life to learn from, to grow, to experience his love, and to share his love. Even miles apart, we have things that bind us, and I know without any doubt if I ever needed anything, this group would be there no questions asked.

I’m sure you all have people, groups of people, in your lives who you might be thinking about right now, special family or friends, or friends who you feel are families. Take some time this weekend to reach out to them if you haven’t connected in a while, let them know you are thinking about them.

Father, thank you for the gift of special people you bring into our lives, may we not take gifts like these for granted, but love them as you loved us.

Happy Friday friends, have an amazing day!

Hebrews 10:24
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.
