Yesterday was busy. The Wreaths Across America event, thanks for your kind thoughts about this event. It was great to see so much activity around it, and so many of you participating as well in your own communities. We also had our little community holiday gathering with great food and socializing. We finished the evening with a little bit of wrapping of some gifts.
I found myself in front of the Christmas tree after my husband had gone to bed. I’m sure many of you have done the same, you shut off the lights, except for the tree, and just sit and think. I looked at the ornaments with the lights shining on them and made my way down memory lane. I found myself smiling as I remembered so many of the Christmas’ past.
I think it’s good to find those peaceful quiet times by yourself to relax, remember and give thanks for the gifts of this life. We get so wrapped up in the day-to-day activities and never make time for ourselves to just stop and be. We don’t make time to take care of ourselves to love ourselves the way God loves us. How can we do as Father asks, to “love our neighbors as ourselves” if we don’t take time to show love to ourselves?
On this fourth Sunday of Advent, I’d like to remind you that today we light the fourth candle, the Angel’s Candle. It stands for peace and love. Jesus’ birth was a perfect gift and is proof that God loves us unconditionally. So, take a little time to show that love to yourself.
I’d like to share this little prayer I found for this fourth Sunday of Advent.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your gift of love. We know that we were dead in our sins, and did not deserve anything but death. Thank you that in spite of our many sins, you still loved us and came to save us. You came and showed us how to love. Teach us what it is to love, and how to practice it each day. Give us the wisdom we need to love well, the mercy to forgive ourselves when we neglect to love well, and the hunger to always learn more about love. We ask for all these things in your name, Amen.
Have a wonderful Sunday my friends 🙂
