A few weeks ago I shared with you that there are times when I sit down to write this little blog and I’m totally clueless, I have no idea what to write. I was thinking about that post yesterday when God tapped me on the shoulder and provided some inspiration.
How many times have we been in a situation where we are simply speechless? We just don’t know what to say. Perhaps a dear friend confides in you that they have a terminal disease, you are volunteering at a soup kitchen and someone in line says thank you for the first meal they’ve had in days, you’re helping a community to clean up from a natural disaster and those who’ve lost everything just want to hug you for helping to clean out the six inches of muck in their home, you’re speechless.
I thought about each of these situations last night, and then I heard Father say, “just talk to me”. How many times have we been in a situation like I listed above, not knowing what to say when all we needed to do was pray. We could just ask the person, “can I pray with you”, or let them know, “I will lift you in prayer”. In my opinion, there is no greater comfort than praying with or for someone and knowing that people are praying for you. Many feel it’s a cliché’ to say I’m praying for you. Well, given the past few years, I don’t think so any longer. I’ve seen people come together to pray for each other and I’ve literally seen the prayers answered.
Prayer is a powerful thing my friends and it is becoming more and more powerful. So, the next time you find yourself speechless in a situation, perhaps that’s God saying, “hello, pray with them”. It doesn’t have to be a literary work of art, no, quite the opposite, simple and from your heart. It may seem awkward at first to ask someone if you can pray with them, but once you’ve taken that step, you’ll see how blessed you feel. And…don’t hesitate to ask someone if they will pray for you. Prayer is our connection to Father, it’s our way of growing closer to him.
Have a great day my friends, I’ll be lifting prayers and thanking Father for all of you today, as I do every day. I’m blessed to have your support 🙂 .
Jeremiah 29:12
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
