Competition Day

Well, if you’ve been following my little blog lately you know that today is our community Chili Cookoff. I’m the chairperson for the event, and yes, yes I have an entry. My tailgate chili has been known to make a few folks pretty happy, especially if around a bonfire or at a football game. Now we are in SW Florida where the temp is expected to be in the mid ’80’s at competition time, soooo, not sure how well my chili will fare 🙂 .

I’m not sure there is really much of a story in today’s little blog. Just looking forward to a great event this afternoon where we have about 50 people expected. That’s pretty good in a community of only 84 units.

Yesterday a small group of committee members helped to arrange and decorate our clubhouse. We chatted about “traffic flow” to get to the chili, being able to move around to taste everything, having room to mingle while the votes were being tallied, etc. It was fun to watch it all come together. By the way, if you don’t already know, Etsy is a wonderful tool! My gosh, go visit some of those entrepreneurs! I put some photos below of the pre-party decor, thanks to a few wonderful Etsy stores, Chica and Jo and Blue Fire Engraving!

So today, I simply look forward to this afternoon’s contest and festivities. Our little community, with so many new residents, is coming together in fellowship. And hey, three great cooks will walk away with awards for the best chili in Clubside!

If there is one thing I’d share in this little blog today, it’s that we are coming together to be together. We will come together to share a little about ourselves with our neighbors. Don’t underestimate the power of that. Father brings us together and Father will be in our midst.

Have a great day today my friends. Go out and spend some time with family and/or friends. Enjoy the day that Father has provided and don’t underestimate the power of togetherness, (and maybe a little competition).

I’ll let you know tomorrow if I took home the title 🙂
