Last night I didn’t sleep well, I woke up in the middle of the night, and of course, my mind started going. I’m sure none of you have had that happen π . As you try to think about anything to doze back to sleep, I found myself thinking about my childhood, my teens, my younger days, ya that helped me fall asleep, ahh no.
Like many I’m sure, as an adult, I look back on my life sometimes and wonder just how I ever made it to where I am. I’ve made mistakes, some doozies, I’ve made bad decisions, I’ve not done things I should have, and yet, I’m here today with this little blog. Wow, a great way to start a Monday, right?!
There have been many musicians who have recorded songs about writing letters to their younger selves. When I listen to those songs I often think of what would happen if I could write one of those letters. Well, there isn’t anything stopping me from doing that, but of course, that letter wouldn’t go to a younger me, it would go to Father. The letter would basically be a prayer to God to ask for forgiveness for those decisions and things left undone. But, that prayer would also be a prayer of thanks for all the times he got me through, for all the times he helped me see, for all the times he lifted me up.
Today friends, I share a song with you, recorded by MercyMe. It’s titled “Dear Younger Me” and it is a reminder that God was there in our younger days, and he is with us today. Those decisions we made, the choices, and the actions, they have shaped who we are today. If things go the way they should, we learn from the bad and the good, and we make the changes we should make to be better.
So, we have made it this far in this life and God isn’t finished with us yet. We are here for just such a time as this. No need to keep looking back, I think Father wants us to look forward, sharing his love and doing his work. Maybe if I had been thinking about that last night, I might have been a little more at peace and slept better π .
Enjoy this short tune by MercyMe and have a great day my friends!
Ephesians 1:7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.
