The photo that I used for today’s little blog was taken not far from where we used to live in IL. You could say that we lived kind of “out in the country”, and the roads near us were small, with two lanes and many not even marked with lines. Anyway, one evening I was on one of those roads and happened to look up to see the sun’s rays coming down through the clouds. It was an incredible site and as in many cases, the picture doesn’t really do it justice.
I’m not quite sure I remember who shared it with me, but I recall someone telling me when I was younger, that pictures like this, where the sun rays are making their way through the clouds, that’s God lifting the souls of the faithful departed home to him. I’m not quite sure what Father’s timing is to bring the souls of the departed home, but pictures like this comfort me in knowing that he certainly does bring us home.
There is a prayer that is said during funeral services, or just when remembering those who have passed, “May their soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.” The response to that sentence is, “And my light perpetual shine upon them. Amen”. When I see an image like I’ve used in today’s little blog, I hear that phrase, “and may light perpetual shine upon them”.
I’m not sure what Heaven will look like, I think we all have our own visions. I do believe there will be light and not darkness, I do believe there will be warmth and I do believe there will be an incredible peace, one that will indeed surpass all understanding. I also think Father gives us signs every day that he is here with us. Some are as simple as the sun’s rays breaking through the clouds, while other signs are more direct, like when you hear him speak to you.
Well, just some random thoughts to ponder in today’s little blog. Whether you are going through a difficult time, or perhaps have lost someone recently, or even if you are just questioning things in life, don’t lose sight of Father. He is here with us and we only need to ask for his guidance and strength.
Have a wonderful day my friends 🙂

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
