I’ve shared with you all that we have a great little community where I live. Several neighbors have fur babies and I love to get my snuggles in with these pups each day. Well, recently there have been a few neighbors in the community that have met at the corner around the same time, just about when I’m coming home from working out in the morning. I get to say hi to them all at one time, going from pup to pup wishing them a good morning. I’ve kind of dubbed it the morning puppy coffee clutch. It’s a fun way to start the day, say good morning and catch up quickly with everyone.
I was thinking about this gathering as I sat down to write this little blog this morning when I was reminded of other regular gatherings like this. One of our local grocery stores, (that’s an understatement actually, it’s waaay more than that), serves breakfast and I’ve noticed a group of veterans in there regularly. They are all seated at the same table with their coffee and telling stories, catching up, and being together. I saw them the other day when I stopped by to pick up a few things, yep, the same table, sporting the same veteran’s hats, sharing their stories. It made me smile.
Like many of you, our church has a coffee hour after each service where we gather to have fellowship with our church family. Like the other gatherings I’ve mentioned, this is another time to catch up with friends, share stories from our week, meet new people and be together. We’ve formed strong friendships through our church and the coffee hour helped start many of them 🙂 .
There’s just something about these gatherings around a little thing like coffee. Of course, it’s more than the coffee, although that is always a great place to start, it’s about the togetherness, it’s about the sharing of yourself. These times when we gather are opportunities to offer support and assistance, to provide encouragement, to share fears, and to laugh. These times bring us closer to each other, but more importantly, they bring us close to Father. These are times for us to share his love in simple ways.
So, as you begin your day my friends, perhaps with your coffee, give some thought to one of these little groups. If you already have a standing arrangement with friends over coffee, great, I’d love to hear about it! If you don’t have one, perhaps it’s something to consider? What a great way to share a piece of yourself and some of Father too.
Have a great day my friends, I’m off to, you guessed it, make some coffee 🙂 .
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.
