What’s in Store Wednesday

Ahh, the middle of the week, we made it. You know these days are going by so quickly, so many of my friends have commented the same. Where does the time go? Having said that have you noticed though that your weeks tend to flow with the same feelings. Here’s what I mean, we usually begin Monday with the hope of getting things accomplished. Perhaps the previous week wasn’t so great and the start of a new week brings new hope. Tuesday isn’t so bad, we made it past Monday and we’re making our way through. Then Wednesday comes in, mid-week and we’re starting to feel the weight of the days, especially if the week hasn’t been what you expected. Round the corner to Thursday and perhaps things are looking just a little brighter because you can see the finish line, and you’re feeling a little better. Then, of course, we land on Friday and hope is restored because you made it through and ahhh, the weekend is here. Is this your week of feelings? Have to admit, it’s been mine, and it’s easy to get into the rut of those feelings.

So, this morning, as I started my Wednesday, I looked for a prayer, specifically for Wednesday. I found a prayer, specifically to “help your spirit rest in God”. The author of this prayer is Cally Logan and I think it captures what many might need as we begin today. Have a good day my friends, and may your day be filled with Father 🙂 .

Father God, thank You for this Wednesday. Father, we are all guilty of looking so far ahead into the future that we forget to slow down and just be still in Your presence. Lord, help us to not merely try and rush through this Wednesday; rather, help us to linger in You.

Lord, teach us the beauty of resting in You. Teach us what holy rest truly looks like. Beyond just sleep or lounging, we know that resting securely in You forms a peace that goes beyond understanding and provides a true refreshment, and so we pray this day for Your holy rest upon us.

Knowing that each season in our lives holds significant meaning and perfect timing, we can rest assured that You use all things. As easy as it can be to fall into routines and ruts, we ask that You heighten our senses to embrace and appreciate these days. These days are not mundane, for they are Your days that You have chosen for us to live in. Help us to live to the fullest and to rest to the fullest. We praise Your holy name, oh Lord.

Amen
