Great title for this little blog right?! There is a story behind it and I’ll share enough that you get the picture, although, “the names have been changed to protect the innocent” 🙂 . Seriously though, there is a story behind this.
Recently, in several social media groups that I’m in, the level of snarkiness has increased. People ask a simple question, looking for a recommendation, ask about the status of an event, ask about something as simple as whether there is a cycle riding group around here, etc. and the responses surprisingly turn snarky. All it takes is one of those comments and before you know it a chain of responses has chimed in and what was a simple question has now turned into an ugly mess where a moderator has to step in and shut it down.
What the heck is wrong with people I ask myself. Remember the old saying, if you can’t say something nice then don’t say anything at all? Well, that seems to have vacated culture these days and quite honestly it’s a shame. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my own thoughts when I’ve heard, what I think might be a silly question asked, and I’m like really? We are human and we have emotions, we have thoughts, we get angry and when Satan has his way, we can get pretty ugly. I believe Satan is doing his work quite well these days. We, God’s children seem to be less patient, (I’m in that bucket my friends), and less forgiving, we’ve become Snarkasaurus Rex.
The good news is, God’s children are standing up. People are stepping in to say, hey that was out of line. Members of these social media groups are chiming in to say, stop being ugly, start being helpful. It’s a simple act to try and get people to think before you speak, and I need to do a little more of this. I think we can all find ways to make the world around us better, with kinder words, helpful advice, and behavior that pleases God.
Friends, our time here is short, and spending it as a Snarkasaurus Rex is definitely not what Father wants. As we start our weekend, may we all find ways to be more helpful, and share God’s love. He loves us friends and has asked us to love others as He loved us.
Happy Saturday friends 🙂 .
John 15:12
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
