My husband and I are taking a long weekend to spend some time with friends up in the Ft. Walton Beach area. It’s about eight hours from us, (man Florida is a big state), so we were on the road most of the day yesterday. I always have fun looking at bumper stickers and license plates when we’re on road trips. They make the time go a little faster, especially if you’re on the road for a lengthy amount of time.
Well, about halfway into our drive, we were coming up behind a semi-truck. I didn’t see the decal on it at first, but then all of a sudden I noticed this large sketch of a man’s face and he was holding his hand up, palm facing us. The caption below it simply said, “Did You Pray Today?”. I have to tell you, it got my attention and it did what it was supposed to do for sure. This simple image made me think for a moment, “oh my gosh I forgot to talk to Father”. I realized I had indeed had my morning time in prayer with God, but then I thought, um…you can always talk to God Kim, duh.
I wonder how many other cars saw that decal and asked themselves the question, did you pray today? It was a subtle reminder to all who saw it, and more importantly an invitation for those who don’t normally pray. My hope is the invitation did indeed bring some who aren’t in regular prayer, to take a moment and have a conversation.
My husband and I say a prayer at meals, I shared that prayer several months ago with you all in this little blog. We do this whether we are eating at home or eating out at a restaurant. If it’s just the two of us we will bow our heads and say the prayer together. If we are with a group, we will do this silently to ourselves, however recently I have invited those with us to pray before the meal. Everyone is happy to do so and then we continue on with our meal and conversation. I wonder how many in the restaurants we visit, who see us pray before the meal will be comfortable doing so after watching it happen. These times of prayer are simple thanks given to God for the gift of food and can be small moments with Him at least several times a day π .
I just believe friends, the more time we can spend talking with Father, giving thanks, praying for special needs of the family, asking for strength, or sharing happiness, the stronger we become. God is on the move right now, I can see it more, and I can feel it more. I see more of his children coming together, most recently a group of young people at this University in Kentucky. It makes my heart happy to see young people, and now people of all ages, giving thanks to the Lord, reading the bible, and singing hymns. His message, his love is spreading and we need more of it in my humble opinion.
I’ll let you get to your day my friends, have a wonderful one. Spend a little time with Father today, he wants to chat π .

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
