As I mentioned yesterday, my husband and I are spending a long weekend up in the northern part of the state. It’s amazing how different the landscape, the weather, and the people are just within the same state. Here in the northern part of Florida, you find the woods with their tall pines, the temperature is about 30 degrees cooler, and the people, well their southern accents, I could listen to them all day!
It’s also amazing the difference a day can make. Yesterday when we woke up, the wind was howling, it was drizzling rain and the sea was, let’s just say not happy. The waves were breaking way offshore and the water was unsettled, I guess is how I’d describe it. This morning, the sky is a beautiful blue and the ocean looks like glass and the sound of the water is simply soothing. As I had my morning talk with Father and watched the sunrise from the balcony, I thanked Him for calming the seas. The peacefulness of that view was so different than yesterday.
I think our day-to-day lives are like these past few days, aren’t they? One day the waves break way offshore, and we feel stressed, we’re rushed, we’re overwhelmed unsettled. Then, we spend a little time with Father, we ask him to come in and settle us down, we ask him to provide strength and guidance and before we know it he has calmed our seas.
Sometimes though, it’s easy to forget that God can calm the seas. We’re human and we try to do things on our own, or we trust in the earthly things rather than trusting in Jesus. I find myself at times having to stop and ask God for forgiveness as I ran off and tried to do it by myself. I have to refocus my faith and trust in Him. I will admit, it’s getting easier and easier to do this. Since beginning this little blog and spending time each day writing it, my relationship with Father has grown in ways I can’t even explain. I thank you for that, my friends. You have helped me each day to focus and to lean in more and more to my relationship with Him. I hope in some small way that I’m helping you do the same.
So, as you enjoy your coffee on this beautiful Saturday, I’m hopin the seas in your life are calm. If not, spend some quality time with Father, offer yourself to him, all of it. Share with him and ask him to help calm those waters.
Have a wonderful day my friends and thank you as always for your continued support π .
Matthew 8:26
And he said to them, βWhy are you afraid, O you of little faith?β Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
