Yep, today is March 1st and don’t you just feel different. It’s like you can feel the shift in seasons. I thought it might be fun to share a few fun facts about the month of March. Many of which I certainly did not know, so here ya go.
Did you know that March is named for the Roman god of war, Mars and in the early Roman calendar March was the first month of the calendar year? Did you know that March is national umbrella month, I can see why it is for sure π . The full moon in March will occur the evening of March 6th, into the morning of the 7th, just so you know when to plan for the uptick in craziness π .
Watch the weather today, we all know the saying, “March, in like a lion, out like a lamb”. Did you know that March’s flower is the daffodil? I love these flowers, some of the most fragrant around. Did you know that history says the call of the bluebird is a song that “melts the ear as the snow?
Of course, we all know that March 20th is the FIRST DAY OF SPRING!
Yes March brings a season of new awakenings, the buds begin to show on trees, those daffodils begin to sprout, the snow melts, (hopefully), tulips are popping through the ground, and the sunlight is stretching long into the day.
I found this simple prayer to help us begin March 1st and this season of spring.
Father, thank you for carrying us through lifeβs winter seasons and for bringing us into new springtime seasons of hope. Thank you for the lessons you teach us in the winter seasons: lessons like endurance, rest, perseverance, and trust. Thank you for the blessings you have prepared for the season ahead. Most of all, thank you for your unconditional love, love so strong you gave your Son for us. Amen
Enjoy this new day, and the start of this new season my friends π .
Song of Solomon 2:11-12
For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
