Every now and then we have things come up in our lives that throw us for a loop. LOL, I guess we can all relate to that now can’t we, um…like the last three years for goodness sake. We think we have things all worked out, we have a plan and off we go to git ‘r done. Ahhh, but you know, I think I’ve asked before, do you know how to make God laugh…tell him your plans and see what happens, I’ve found he probably has other plans for us 🙂 .
Well, like many of you, I’ve had some curveballs tossed my way lately. Yesterday, after talking with Father for a bit, I realized, I need to stop swinging at those curve balls. I need to just put down the bat and wait for a bit. It’s ok to step back and understand a little more clearly the direction He wants me to go.
A few days ago, I shared a story about a challenging discussion I had with a neighbor, as you recall I didn’t handle it well. Well, I took some time, prayed a bit for some guidance, and yesterday I had a follow-up talk with that neighbor, while I was spending some time with my furbaby friend Toby. He was a big help in that discussion for sure 🙂 . Anyway, she apologized as did I and she shared that she did understand my points from the previous discussion, she was just frustrated. It’s all good now, but this is just an example of how we sometimes need to take a step back out of the box and stop swinging. Take some time to ask God for guidance and then let Him guide the next steps. I totally get that it’s not easy to do this sometimes, trust me, you all know that I’m a fixer, I like to get things done. Well, Father doesn’t work that way, timing is His for sure.
I think the other part of this that is so difficult is listening for the answer that He may be providing. There are times when I think I know the path I should be following, only to discover there’s not only a fork at the end of that path, it’s more like three different roads. Then what?
Last night as I spent my usual time with Father before bed, I changed my prayers a bit. I not only asked for guidance, I asked Him to help me listen not with my ears, but with my heart. I asked Him to not only light a path for me but for me to have the patience to see it clearly. Ya, that whole, “Thy Will Be Done”, it’s a real thing 🙂 .
So friends, if life has tossed you some curveballs lately like it has me, might I suggest, stop swinging, take a step back, put down the bat, and spend a little time in prayer. God’s timing, well, it’s just that, God’s timing. He’s got us, we just need to let him guide us. I hope you can help remind me of that, goodness knows I need that reminder 🙂 .
Have a great day my friends!
