Through the Darkness

Over the last six weeks, as we’ve made our way through Lent, Holy Week, Good Friday, and the celebration of Easter, I found myself learning so much. We often hear that you’re never too old to learn, and I believe it’s true. Every day we can and should be looking to learn something we didn’t know before.

There were days during Lent that were difficult and dark, nothing like the darkness back in Jesus’ time on this earth, but there were some bumpy ones. I’ll let you in on a little secret, um, I know that throughout the rest of my days, there will be difficult times, situations that cause pain, and challenges I don’t expect. However, I hope that during those times I can reflect on what I learned during this particular Lenten season.

I have felt my relationship with Father grow deeper. I’ve spent more time with Him, carving out time to just talk with Him. I dug deeper into the Bible to truly understand the trials and events of the last days of Jesus’ life. During our church services, I made more of a point to truly listen to the words spoken and relate their meaning to when Jesus walked his final days.

Jesus’ final days on this earth were so raw, that’s the word that comes to mind. He suffered in so many ways; unlike us, He knew the plan. Jesus knew what was to come, and what was to happen and proceeded with the walk. He trusted Father with all His being and in the end, He came through the darkness.

That my friends is truly what matters. We don’t know what’s in store for us in this life, but we do know that with Father’s love, and in our deep relationship with Him, we too will come through the darkness. There is nothing we cannot overcome.

This Lenten season has only enhanced my desire to draw closer to Father, to truly be one with Him. I know that whatever comes my way, He and our Lord Jesus are with me. There will always be light to overcome the darkness.

Have a wonderful day my friends, may it be filled with continued joy that the Easter season brings.

John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
