After Hurricane Ian last year, I never thought I’d find myself wishing for rain. However, here we are in the middle of a drought. It’s been something to see for sure, vegetation is turning brown, our lakes are low, ya our little corner of paradise is thirsty for sure. Last night however we got a good shower. We just need that for about a week-long stretch and we might be ok. It’s funny because I know long about July when it will be raining every day, I’ll be wishing for the sunshine, (ya, ya, that’s for another day though).
I know that Father will provide the rain at some point, and we will see His creation repair itself. It’s all on His time I know. But as I listened to the little show we had last night I found myself thinking about the situations He brings us through. Wasn’t it Longfellow’s poem that said, “Into every life, a little rain must fall”? Well, I do think that sometimes that rain comes into our lives to strengthen us, and to point us back to Father.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe that God makes bad things happen to people. I do believe that when things happen, when challenges occur, Father wants us to dig deeper into our relationship with Him. So many times though, when things happen we turn from Him and dig into ourselves. I know I’ve done it, held my own little pity party, rather than simply sit and ask Him to help me through, give me strength, and guide me.
What I do know is that the rain is going to come at some point. Hopefully from a weather standpoint, sooner than later 🙂 . When that rain does fall in our lives, let’s not stand in it and get drenched, let’s put up Father’s umbrella and weather that storm with Him.
Have a great day my friends!
Isaiah 55:10
For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater.
