It’s been a while since I’ve mentioned the eagle family and the two young eaglets we have down here in SW Florida. You might recall that two eaglets were born just a little over 100 days ago now. Not too long after, their mother, Harriett went missing and has not been seen since. The speculation is that while the dad, named M15, was out hunting, a predator bird threatened the nest and Harriett defended her young. We don’t know for certain what happened, but she has never returned to the nest.
Since that time, M15 has done an incredible job taking care of the kids. Early on when the eaglets were still very young you would even see him cover them for protection and warmth. He brings food to the nest and guards it faithfully.
The “kids”, named E21 and E22, are now over 100 days old and my goodness how they have changed. They have both ventured out and taken their first flights. Just this weekend E21, the older sibling, reached another milestone, transferring a branch from his beak to his talons as he flew. It was incredible to watch.
Last night, however, the local camera that is fixed on the nest, caught a wonderful scene of the two young with their dad. It truly was special to watch, (I included the video below). You could almost feel how they just wanted to be close to dad. I think we can all relate to this feeling, no matter how old we are, there is nothing like that special time with dad.
Ya, you know where I’m going, I have no doubt that Father wants that special time with us too. Unlike these eaglets who, once they leave the nest for good, will probably not be spending quality time with M15, our Father will always be there. He is always there to provide the strength we need, to calm our fears, and to guide us through this life.
Friends, I say continued prayers for this beautiful family of eagles. They’ve overcome some pretty tough odds and have made it so far. Father continue to watch over them as they grow and soon leave to be on their own. Father please also help us, your children to stop and spend that special time with you. Amen
Have a great day my friends, oh and hey, if you still have your dad, give him a call today 🙂 .
1 John 4:4
Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
