Not in Kansas Anymore

So I mentioned in this little blog yesterday that I’m helping to organize an outing for a group of senior golfers. We are at a resort in the central part of the state. It’s funny because just going a few hours in one direction or the other in this state provides the opportunity to see such different scenery. Here for instance you find wooded areas with large, like really large trees, hills, and even some red dirt. Oh yes, there are some palm trees here and there, but more wooded areas than beaches for sure.

As you have probably seen from weather reports the last few days, our fair state has seen its share of craziness, (or cray cray as I called it in a little blog earlier this week). For instance, 3″ size hail that came down in such quantity, it was measured with a ruler! Well, last night the storm we had been expecting for much of the day, finally rolled itself through and it was a doozy! The wind was blowing so hard I could see those large trees bending at its force. The wind actually blew open the balcony doors in my room (french style doors). I literally had to hold these doors closed until the storm made its way through. Ya right about this time I was feeling a little like Dorothy and was pretty sure I wasn’t in Kansas any longer!

When things finally calmed down, I slowly opened my balcony door to peek out. Holy cow, the tree branches, not little twigs, LARGE tree branches were snapped and lying on the ground just in my little area, oh boy. Once I was sure that the weather had made its way through, I made my way to get some sleep.

Fast forward to this morning, when I glanced over at the clock at one point only to see, well to see black. Yep, the power was out, great. I’m not quite sure how long it had been out, but I was truly hoping this wasn’t the start of a long day 🙂 . Well, fortunately, the power came on within about 30 minutes.

I opened my balcony doors this morning, and even though it is still dark out, I can see again the many branches that are down. I’m not sure how the rest of the property faired, we’ll find that out in a bit as the sun comes up.

Last night and this morning I spent a little time with Father to simply say thank you for keeping us safe here. It was a pretty crazy storm and times like this remind me that we are not in control of many things, (most things actually), in this life. We must be anchored in our faith and trust in Father. Honestly, there is no place I’d rather ben than solidly anchored to Him.

Have a great day my friends, and say a little prayer for anyone that was in the crosshairs of the storms these last few days.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
