Steps to Heaven

Yesterday morning we had some decent storms here in our neck of the woods. Wind and rain, branches down, the whole nine yards you could say. However, by noon the clouds had moved out, and blue sky was left, along with much cooler and much dryer air. The afternoon was simply beautiful, and we even opened up patio doors and windows to allow some fresh air in.

At one point later in the evening as the sun was making its way down, I stepped into my kitchen to see a wonderful view of the sky. Father was working magic again with the sun and the clouds. I snapped the picture, it’s actually the header picture of today’s little blog. I sent the picture to a neighbor friend and she commented back “Like you could climb right up and peek at heaven”.

Pictures like these where the rays of the sun are shining in just such a way do indeed make me think of how Heaven will look when we see it. I guess we all have our visions of what it will be like, mine does include much brightness, whether that is sun rays or what, I’m not sure, but I do envision brightness.

Last night as I spent a little time with Father before bed, I found myself talking about my mom. I’m really not sure why, but I guess those rays of the sun and the thoughts of Heaven made me realize again how much I miss her. I asked Father to help me to know she was ok, and I just shared with Him how much I wished I could hug her again. It’s funny how sometimes little moments, pictures or even a song can bring you to a place of thinking of someone who has been gone so long. Maybe that is God reminding us that we are always connected to our family, that we are never really far from them, even after they have left their earthly home.

I know there will come a day when I see Mom again when I’m fortunate to see many loved ones and friends who have joined Jesus. When that time comes, I’ll have my answer as to what Heaven looks like. Until then though, I’ll keep admiring Father’s wonderful scenery from down here, beautiful skies, sunrises, and sunsets. His paintbrush is pretty awesome for certain.

Thanks friends for letting me ramble just a bit today. Wishing you a wonderful day 🙂 .
