Father as Co-Pilot

There’s an old movie from the mid-’40s, “God is My Co-Pilot”. It’s based on a true story about an Army Air Force pilot, Robert Lee Scott Jr., who is considered too old to fly in combat. However, he is recruited and volunteers to fly in a secret bombing mission against the Japanese. He goes on to fly many missions with the Flying Tigers and ultimately takes down an infamous Japanese fighter “Tokyo Joe”. One of the captions of the movie title is “The Men Who Flew by Faith and Fury”.

I thought about this movie this morning as I’m getting ready for a travel day. I’m driving quite a bit today with meetings in between. When I travel I always say a little prayer for God to keep me safe. Whether I’m flying, driving, riding my bike, you name it, I just ask that he keeps me safe.

So I guess you could say, I keep Father close as my co-pilot. I know we pretty much all do that. I mean seriously, with Him by our side there really isn’t much else we need. Don’t get me wrong, I know that there are some days when the travel isn’t so pleasant, and those are days when we’re not even physically on the road. This thing called life gets bumpy sometimes I get it.

At the end of the day though, whether we’re traveling, working, or playing, having God in all that we do is what is going to get us through. He is here to help us as we travel through this life. He is here to shine a light on those dark highways and to show us the path. Now, I don’t believe He ever promised a smooth roadway all the time, but I know if we keep Him close and put our faith and trust totally in Him, Father will help us get to where we are going.

Friends, if you are traveling today I lift a little prayer for God to keep you safe. Just remember, as we travel through this journey of life, God is always with us and he will never forsake us. Time to hit the road and do His work. Have a great day friends!

Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
