Cody’s Wish

Yesterday was Derby Day, and true to form the Kentucky Derby was indeed a great race. However, there was a more special race held yesterday, and it had even more excitement than the Derby race. The Churchill Downs Stakes race was run a few races before the Derby and if you were watching it, I’m guessing you shed a tear.

You see Cody’s Wish is not only an amazing horse, he is named after Cody Dorman. Cody is from Richmond, KY, and was born with a rare genetic disorder. The doctors told Cody’s parents that he would not live past the age of two. Well, Cody is now 17 and defying the odds. When you watch his story, you understand how God is truly at work in the life of this family. Father brought hope into their lives, and he used an amazing horse to do it. Take a moment to watch Cody’s story here, um grab a tissue.

Cody reminds me of our grandson Austin. The odds he faced, the challenges every day, and the incredible love that he has for everyone he meets. Austin has a special place for horses too. I think Father showed us this story yesterday as a reminder that He will always be here and that there is always a path through this life as long as we believe in Him.

Oh, so how did Cody’s Wish do yesterday in the Churchill Downs Stakes. Well, it was exciting to watch, take a look here, p.s. grab another tissue.

Father, thank you for caring for your sweet children. They are our most precious gifts, and regardless of their physical challenges, our children are always perfect gifts from You.

Have a great day everyone!

Psalm 127:3
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
