Lunchtime Friend

Yesterday I worked remotely, remotely. What the heck does that mean you ask. Well, I packed up my laptop and a few files and spent the day working from the conference room at our church. My husband has been helping out there in the office, and he mentioned they needed some insight into a program they use that I’m familiar with. I offered to take lend a hand so we both worked from the church yesterday. After I gave my insight into their program issue, it didn’t make sense to drive all the way home only to trek back to pick him up later in the afternoon. So, I just set up shop in the conference room for the day. We both packed a lunch yesterday morning and headed out the door. It was like going to the office again.

Speaking of lunch, well the morning flew by like it usually does these days, I swear I don’t know where the time goes. Anyway, I wandered into the kitchen to grab my lunch, thinking I would just go back and eat at my “desk” like I usually do. As I came out of the kitchen I looked out the big windows and saw our dock out back. Our church sits on a beautiful cove, hence our name, Trinity by the Cove. Anyway, yes we have a dock out back that is great for fishing, or sitting and enjoying nature, and…it’s also a great spot for lunch.

I wandered out, sat on the edge, and let my feet dangle. I glanced into the water and yep, saw the fish active below. Ya, now I was wishing I’d tossed my fishing pole in the back of the car before we left πŸ™‚ . Anyway, as I sat and ate my lunch, I can’t tell you how relaxed I became. It was a busy morning, they are all these days it seems, and my mind was all over the place when I walked out to lunch. But the peacefulness of this place, the water, the wind, and the sun was just nice.

I found myself talking with Father and thanking him for this relaxing time. I thanked him for the incredible beauty around me, and for allowing me to experience it. I am truly blessed in so many ways, and spending lunch with our Lord in what to me is my own little paradise is one of my many blessings.

Our days can be so crazy at times. We’re all pulled in so many directions, juggling multiple responsibilities and priorities, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed. It’s so important to step away from the craziness, I know I’ve mentioned that many times in this little blog. Well, it never hurts to put out the reminder.

So, as you prepare for your day, why not consider packing a lunch and making a point to spend lunchtime with a friend, spend it with Father. Enjoy the outdoors, maybe find a park bench, a rooftop, or if you’re like me, a place by the water. Soak in some fresh air and sun while you eat and chat with God. I think you’ll be surprised how refreshed you feel when you head back to your office, even if it’s a home office.

Life is short my friends, take time to experience the wonders around us, and take a moment to thank God for those wonders. Have a great day everyone πŸ™‚ .

1 Peter 3:15
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
