The Little Things

A few years ago our granddaughter colored a picture for us. Like most kids she loves to color, now she’s on to the fancy books they make for even adults now. The crayons have been put aside for colored pencils, which now come in their own carrying case. Anyway, as I said our granddaughter colored the picture of the sea turtle that you see below, along with many others since.

Last night as I was making dinner, I caught a glimpse of that picture. It’s proudly displayed where most things are that are created by our grandkids, on the front of the fridge of course 🙂 . As I looked at that picture and read the words across the top, “Enjoy the Little Things”, I thought of just how timely this was, and how simple the reminder was.

Sometimes life can seem complex, challenging, difficult even. However, there are so many things in this life that are so simple that we often look past the gifts that can be. Yesterday afternoon I spent some time with my fishing pole in the water. I sat on the dock and just enjoyed the water, birds the breeze, and the surroundings. There is something so relaxing about being near the water. There was nothing fancy about yesterday afternoon, just me in my grungy shorts, old flip flops, and my fishing pole, well a dozen bait shrimp too. Yet, in that simpleness, I found incredible peace.

I guess my point today friends as we start a new week is this, take a moment to look at those little things in life that bring such joy. The time you spend enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning, watching a sunrise or sunset, spending time with your children or grandchildren, maybe even coloring a picture with them, these are just some of those little things in life that are priceless.

Yes, take some time to not only remind yourself to “Enjoy the Little Things”, but take time to thank Father for those little things. Many of those little things are priceless.

Have a great day my friends 🙂 .

Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

What a great artist! Yes, its the little things that we can overlook when the big things (schedule) takes over. Loving retirement and more “little thing moments”. Sorry we will miss seeing you and Bob. Safe journey home and Congratulations to your granddaughter.  Hugs, Linda
