Today is graduation day for our granddaughter. The events of the last few weeks make today even more special than it would have been. If this is your first time reading this little blog or if you’ve been away from it, you can learn more about those events I’m mentioning in this post. We’re looking forward to spending time with family and friends and watching with pride as our granddaughter Dakota walks across the stage and receives confirmation of a job well done.
As I sit and write this post this morning, I’m thinking about not only all the graduates but all of God’s precious children, the little ones He calls them in the bible. I’ve mentioned many times in this little blog that our children are the most precious gift that we can receive from Father in this life. He entrusts us to protect them and show them His ways. He wants us to instill in them the love for Him, and for others and to show them how to grow in their relationship with Him.
Oh don’t get me wrong, I totally know that parenting is a tough job and definitely not for the faint of heart. However, when we think about the difficulties we face when raising our children, we have to remember that Father knows those difficulties. Um…we are HIS children and I’m guessing there are days when what we do disappoints him, just like our kids can disappoint us. He gets it.
We had dinner with a friend last night and through the laughter and catching up that we did, we shared stories about our faith, our church families, and activities. He is very involved in the youth programs at his church and to listen to how vibrant it is was inspiring. He devotes his time to helping “his kids” understand the true relationship they can have with God. He shares the love of God in what he does and through that these “little ones” are growing closer to Father. They are understanding the power of that relationship with God and they are in turn learning how to support others through that relationship. Father is at work in this space with these children, young and old π .
So today, as we celebrate Dakota and her classmates, I will also celebrate the most precious gift from Father, all of His children. I’ll say a prayer for Him to continue to protect and guard these little ones as they grow in this world. I’ll say a prayer for God to provide strength, patience, and compassion to parents who may be struggling in whatever way. I’ll say a prayer for all of God’s children to lean on Him and to remember that we are never alone.
So friends, as you begin your weekend, I ask that you say a little prayer not only for our sweet Dakota but for all the children in this world. They are truly our most precious gift. Have a great day my friends π .
Mark 10:13-16
And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, βLet the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.β And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
