I’m guessing when you read the title of today’s little blog the refrain from the popular Disney movie Frozen started running through your head, I apologize for that 🙂 . It’s funny has just a few simple words can bring a song right to mind, oh well, that’s for a different blog someday.
What’s also interesting is how the meanings of simple words like these three can be so different. In the case of the movie Frozen, Elsa was singing about the letting out of powers inside her, not holding them in any longer. She is also mentioning letting go of the fear she’s held inside her whole life, the fear that others will find out about these powers and not understand. One meaning of the words let it go yes.
This morning, the let it go version I was thinking about was the worries, concerns, and anxiety that we hold in so often. There is so much going on in our world, in our lives that build up, and pile on top of itself, and letting it go is not always easy. I’ve had conversations with several friends recently and ya we’re all pretty much saying the same thing, we just want things to settle down and not feel like we’re just waiting for another shoe to drop. Seems like we get over one hurdle, take care of one issue, and something else takes its place. It’s like playing a game of “whack-a-mole” on constant repeat.
I guess that’s where our relationship with Father comes in. Funny how this seems to be the answer to so many things in our lives. I’m not sure why I have to keep reminding myself that “hello, God is the answer you know”. Yes, my friends Father really is the answer, and He is the strength that will get us through that silly game of whack-a-mole. We need to let go of the anxiety, fear, worries, or even anger we feel. Offer these feelings to God, let him take them, and replace them with trust, faith, and peace.
I understand how difficult it can be at times to do just that, to let it all go. However, what happens when we actually do it? Things seem a little calmer, this thing called life doesn’t seem so overwhelming, and our heads become a little clearer. It really is that simple. We just need to make a point of taking time to be with God, to offer our worries and fears, let Him take them, and replace those feelings with trust and strength.
We’re not alone my friends, we don’t have to carry the burdens, we need to let it go. Let’s put down the whack-a-mole mallet, and put our faith squarely in God’s hands.
Have a great day my friends, hope Elsa isn’t singing in your head all day 🙂 .
