Three Day Weekend

The unofficial start of summer begins this weekend with Memorial Day. It’s a three-day weekend and many will be heading out of town, camping, headed to the beach, cookouts, you get the idea. It’s a time to enjoy family and friends and to celebrate the start of summer.

I want to save my thoughts about Memorial Day for this little blog on Monday, however, I don’t want to let the weekend start without a simple reminder. As you begin this three-day weekend, please remember why it’s on our calendar. This weekend isn’t “celebrated” to provide an opportunity to eat, drink and be merry so to speak, this weekend is a reminder of what it takes to enjoy the freedoms we have. This weekend is to honor those who gave it all.

Memorial Day is a sacred day, a day of respect. Again, I’ll have more thoughts on Monday. For now though I simply say, as you head into the weekend, yes, enjoy your family and your friends of course, however, please fly your flag proudly, and remember this, “all gave some, some gave all”. Thank you to those who have served, are still serving, and those who gave their lives while serving, you will never be forgotten.

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
