I’m sure we’ve all been in situations where we have a conversation with a friend or loved one and they are going through a challenge or difficult time. We find ourselves saying “I’ll say prayers for you”, which is great of course. We need to be lifting prayers for each other, to ask Father for His strength, healing, or comfort.
I’ve been thinking lately though, what if instead of saying “I’ll say a prayer for you”, or “I’ll be praying for you”, what if we asked the person, “Can I prayer with you”? What if we took the time to just stop and pray with the person to ask God to help with whatever their need may be? The personal connection with another human being during prayer is pretty powerful. And, remember what Jesus told us, “where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them”.
We are all so busy these days, it’s difficult I know to just stop sometimes. However, I think, as children of God, we really do need to listen to the signs of those around us who are asking for help. It’s easy on social media to say that we’re lifting prayers, to put on the emoji of praying hands. How much more powerful though if we reached out to the individual personally and ask if we can pray with them. The power of prayer really is unstoppable and even more so when it is intentional prayer.
I just think that, where we can, if we pray with someone instead of for them, we might find that closer connection to each other and that closer connection to Father. Not necessarily a bad thing right?
Some mornings Father just puts some random thoughts in my head when I sit down here at this little blog. But then again, maybe they aren’t so random. Have a wonderful day my friends, and if the opportunity arises, say a prayer with someone not just for them š .
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.
