The 4th – Blessed

It’s hard to believe that we are heading into the long 4th of July weekend already. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating Christmas.

I always feel a little sad when the 4th rolls around because after that holiday it just seems like the rest of the summer becomes a blur and before you know it we’re back into fall, and then the winter. Ok, ok, enough of that. Right now we’re going to focus on this long weekend and the upcoming holiday, the birth of our Nation.

So many have sacrificed so much for this country we call home. The sacrifices began almost 250 years ago, when people risked their lives and many died on the ships headed to this land, to escape tyranny and come to a new world for freedom. Over the years since, men and women have died to protect the incredible freedoms we have. Freedoms many take for granted and many abuse.

We are not perfect, there was only one man who was, and that man died for US. However, we are Americans, and we live in the greatest nation on earth. Father has blessed us in ways that we should all be grateful for. I am grateful. I am grateful to all who have given their lives for this country. I am grateful to all who knew the risk and went anyway. I am grateful for the men and women who still do what is necessary every day to get into a patrol car or a fire engine, or the first responders to a natural disaster who put their lives on the line to protect their fellow citizens.

To all who give of themselves for this great country we call home, I say thank you! This weekend I celebrate this land we call home. I won’t apologize for my love of this country. I will honor its history and I will thank Father for the gift of this land and its people.

Friends, I’m going to take a few days off from this little blog to just enjoy the long weekend, maybe sit on a beach or put a pole in the water, watch some fireworks and maybe even eat some apple pie. I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July. Please lift a prayer to Father to protect those who are protecting our freedoms. And…give thanks for the gift of this land, we are truly blessed.

God Bless the U.S.A.
