Sounds like I’m attending some major event today right?! Well, I guess I am of sorts. Actually, I’m headed off to do some more canning for our Christmas Market later this year. I’ve shared here before that we have this wonderful Christmas Market at our church and all the proceeds from the sales go to help service organizations throughout our community.

Well, I’m heading up the canning group this year, and today is the day for BBQ Sauce 🙂 . Of course, it is about more than just canning products, and we’ve had some good ones this year, including a blood orange marmalade. Anyway, no it’s about a group of friends being together and not only giving of ourselves for a wonderful cause, we’re spending time connecting. We learn a little more each time about each other. We learn about our families, where we grew up, and childhood experiences, and we connect in a way that we are growing together in our service to Father.

I’ve learned so much with this group. Oh yes, trust me I now know what makes a marmalade different than a preserve, I know there are different times for “processing” products, and I know how important it is to work in small batches. However, I’ve learned more importantly about friends. I know about them personally, and that makes the “work” of our canning crew fun!

I wish you a wonderful Saturday and weekend, my friends. I hope you have time to spend with friends and loved ones, and hey, learn something new about them. The more we know about each other, the closer we, God’s children become.
