If you’re like me, one of the most simple things you enjoy is a nice cup of coffee. Ya, I have to start my day with it for sure. When I first started drinking coffee many years ago I had to load it up with sugar and cream just to drink it. Then I moved on to the flavored creamers, french vanilla being my preference. However, about five years ago I made the decision to change to black coffee, cutting out the sugars and the creams and just trying to enjoy the simple gift of this wonderful beverage. Not only is it way healthier without the added sweet stuff, the coffee, if you find the right one, tastes so much better.
This morning I found myself thinking about coffee, and believe it or not, I squirreled into thinking about how our relationship with Father and it’s like coffee. What they heck are you talking about Kim, and what did you have to drink this morning, you are probably thinking? What I mean is, do we fill our lives with so much stuff, that we don’t see the simple gift of our relationship with Him. We frequently try to handle problems on our own, we let satan play around in our heads, we turn to the newest toys or distractions to not have to think about struggles we may have. We fill our lives with the additives that change our relationship with Father.
Maybe we should take the step of removing those additives, remove the things that we think make our lives sweeter and experience the pure, simple relationship Father wants to have with us. Put down the phone, step away from the Netflix series, and just spend some quality time, with no additives, with God. Confide in Him and let Him show us how wonderful that relationship can be.
So ya, maybe I squirreled this morning, but I encourage you to number one, get rid of those added sweeteners in your coffee, and learn to enjoy the true flavor of this wonderful gift. And…give some thought to what additives may be keeping you from that relationship with Father.
Have a wonderful day friends, I’m off to make some coffee 🙂 .
