I made my way out to my lanai this morning to have my morning conversation with Father. I’ve mentioned before that I enjoy this time of the morning outside. It’s so peaceful and quiet and you can actually think for a bit. As I talked with God and lifted continued prayers for Baby M, I also said special prayers for her parents, grandparents, and other family. When we are going through challenges/difficult situations, the prayers tend to focus on the one most affected, in this case Baby M.
I wanted to talk with Father specifically about the family, those who have been going through sleepless nights. Those who may be sitting and looking a hospital monitors non-stop, those who fall asleep in the uncomfortable chair in the waiting room. We’ve probably all been in one of these situations. It’s exhausting and stressful.
These are the times, in my opinion, that you have to put down the weight you’re carrying. You have to take some time to step away from the situation, if only for a short time. Change the scenery and perhaps the perspective and give the burden to Father, fully. As difficult as it sounds, just a little time away from a stressful situation, a little time to refocus and to lean into God can change perspective.
When we are caring for others, it’s so important to not lose sight of taking care of ourselves. We’ve all heard it so many times before, “Put your oxygen mask on first, then help those next to you”. If we don’t take care of ourselves, physically, mentally, and spiritually, we will not be strong enough to take care of others.
So friends, if you’re going through a challenge, helping a loved one, supporting a friend, or sitting in a hospital, I just encourage you to put down the burden you’re carrying for just a short time. Ask Father to take that burden from you and ask Him to provide you with calm and peace to deal with the challenge you face.
Remember my friends, God is with us and He will never forsake us.
1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
