Growing Up Too Fast

A few days ago my granddaughter called me to fill me in on her first day of classes at the community college where she is enrolled. She is pursuing a career in vet medicine and like all grandparents, we are pretty darn proud. She’s also applying for a part-time position on campus in the vet med area, taking care of the animals, cleaning runs and cages, stocking supplies, feeding, giving meds, etc. During our call, she asked about writing a cover letter. This is the first job she has applied for that is asking for a cover letter, resume, and references ๐Ÿ™‚ . I gave her some helpful tips and explained what she needed to include and told her I’d take a peak at it when she was finished if she wanted.

Well, yesterday she sent over the cover letter for me to review and when I first read it my mind went back to when this young lady was a little baby. I was fortunate to be in the room when she was born and I will never forget holding her for the first time. There is nothing like becoming a parent this is true, however, the feeling of becoming a grandparent, when your little baby has their own baby, wow, ya it’s pretty indescribable. You grandparents out there know what I mean. Now here I was reading a cover letter this little one has written as she pursues her dream career. Where has the time gone I thought.

Our children and grandchildren, they really do grow up too fast. These special gifts from Father are priceless and deserve to be protected and nurtured always. We never stop being parents or grandparents, and should always be there for them, (even though there are times when they don’t want us to be there, like those teen years).

As I sat down to write this little blog this morning I just couldn’t stop thinking about my granddaughter, her brother, and my kids. I’m proud of all they’ve become and ya I guess I’m bragging about them, but hey that’s what we do right ๐Ÿ™‚ . Oh and that cover letter that my granddaughter wrote, well she did a great job and I for one think the department at the college would be lucky to have her! Okay, okay, I might be a little biased.

Friends, take some time today to give those kids and grandkids a hug. If you aren’t nearby then give them a call, or yes even a text just to share how proud you are of them. Let them know you love them and you are always there, regardless of how old they are. They truly are our greatest gifts from our Lord and they do grow up way too fast.

Have an awesome day everyone ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Psalm 127:3
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb, a reward.
