One Step Closer

Thank you friends for your prayers over the past 24 hours. Our area of SW Florida was spared this go around with Idalia moving through. Though I will admit there was a point yesterday when I didn’t think I had ever heard so many tornado sirens and notifications go off at one time, we were fortunate.

This morning my prayers are centered on Northern Florida where Idalia is getting ready to make landfall as a strong category 4 hurricane. It is actually gaining strength as it moves closer to land and the effects will move inland quickly. Northern Florida friends, please do not mess with this storm, please heed the warnings of officials, and stay safe. Beyond that, Georgia, SC, and NC, please have your guard up and be prepared.

With each passing hour, we are one step closer to being through this weather event. As I said yesterday, when she’s done her worst, let us, God’s children come together to show our best. Loving our neighbors as ourselves, lending a hand up to those who will have lost homes or businesses, and just being there for someone who needs to share their story. Let us show God’s grace and compassion as we help those who will need it most.

Yes, friends, we are one step closer to weathering this storm, and we are one step closer to being with Father. Let’s not focus on the latter, but rather make the time here, weathering the storms, let us make that time count. When the time comes to be with Father, I want to be able to say I did my best and gave all that I had to share His love and compassion.

So be safe my Norther Florida/Southern Georgia friends. Know that you are one step closer to having Idalia behind you, and know that on the other side, you will not be alone. Father, please keep your children safe from this storm. Calm the winds and the seas and strengthen your people. Guide us Lord and protect us. In your Son our Lord Jesus Name we pray. Amen
