The One Becomes Many

This morning as I sat down to write this little blog, I noticed a post by one of our attendees from last week. It was a heartfelt, no I would say it was an emotionally raw post about her week and life in general. You see this wonderful woman, (I’ve known her for years and call her friend), lost her special needs daughter not very long ago. During the keynote address last week, our speaker, Chad Hymas referenced a special needs child who was a classmate in his high school. When the picture appeared on the screen last week, like so many in the audience that know our special friend, we couldn’t help but notice the resemblance to the the wonderful girl who passed away this year.

The post last night from my friend said it all. In this loving post that was filled with every emotion you can fathom, she shared how Father pointed out yet again, “It’s not about you”. I don’t think she’ll mind if I share a few snippets from her post.

“So I’m leaving this conference with a different mindset than I have in years past, it’s not about what new systems I can implement to make our practice better, it’s about how I treat the people I come in contact with and the impact/influence I have in their lives…if I get this part right, the other things will follow ❤ . Sarah Claire’s life, the obstacles, and the miracles made such an impact in the hearts and lives of so many. One of my greatest desires is that her legacy would live on and her life would continue to touch the lives of others even after her passing. I was honored to be in an afternoon workshop with Chad where he said, “You honor your losses by the way you live your life moving forward!”

This was just a small snippet of a beautiful post, but it speaks volumes. There are so many ways we can impact those around us. There are so many ways we can make a difference in this world. We can do it one person at a time. Before we know it, the one has become many. And then…the many become one, one body united, making a difference.

I know that the emotions and the energy last week are carrying over to this week, they do after every one of our meetings, however, there is something different this year. This year people found a connection, a purpose bigger than themselves. That my friends is what matters.

Have a great day my friends,. Take a moment to say hi to a stranger, help someone with their groceries, buy coffee for the car behind you in the Dunkin line on your way to work. Go make a difference, and before we know it, the one become many.
