Yesterday morning I stepped outside to a sight that just made my heart happy. You see our neighbors on either side of us have been up north for the summer. They came back home while I was away last week. Yes, I was of course happy to see them. Side note, it’s kind of funny actually, these two, though they live in different condos, are a couple. They got to know each other through Hurricane Ian last year and now are quite the happy couple 🙂 .
Anyway, so yes I stepped outside yesterday morning and there they were. They AND…their fur babies! If you’ve followed this little blog for long you know that these two pups are part of a wonderful little group of pups in our community. Milton and Toby are the most wonderful little guys and I have to admit I didn’t realize how much I had missed them until yesterday.
Last year I volunteered to help walk both Toby and Milton. Toby’s “human” (as I call him, lol), is Joe. Joe has regular golf games throughout the week and he was feeling bad about Toby being home alone so much. Joe’s wife passed away last year and Toby really was her dog, and since she’s been gone, Toby has really been struggling. Anyway, I volunteered to walk Toby so he wasn’t alone, and, it got me up and moving from my desk, a win/win. I also did a routine walking with Milton earlier this year. Milton’s “human”, Michelle had knee replacement surgery, so the community came together to make sure Milton got his daily walks in. I took the morning shift with Milton and we always had a wonderful time.
So where am I going with all this, this morning, big deal right, neighbors are back from up north and you saw them and the dogs, so what? You see, yesterday morning when I stepped outside and saw these two furry friends, I felt a connection. It’s hard to explain I guess, but when Toby saw me, he came running, his tail wagging, and as I knelt down, he came put his paws on my knees and gave me all kinds of lovin’. Milton came over next, a little slower, (he’s much older and I could see how he’s grayed even more since he’s been gone), but he came over and gently made his way up to give me kisses. He’s not as snuggly as Toby but yesterday he was. He stayed with me for a bit while giving me all kinds of kisses.
I have to tell you, spending a little time with these two fur babies yesterday, just made my whole day. It changed my whole perspective. I wish I could explain it, all I can say is it was like a long time friend was back. To see how they remembered me, the simple showing of their unconditional trust and love, ya it was something. Maybe Father felt I needed this little interaction yesterday.
As I’ve said before, I think Father brings us into situations for a reason. He knows what we need when we need it, even if we don’t. Maybe I’m stretching things a little this morning, but I think He knew how seeing Toby and Milton would set the tone for my day, which was filled with things to do. Seeing them made me stop and refocus, and I did just that.
I’m glad Toby and Milton’s “humans” are back, but like a kid who has been away on summer vacation, I’m happy to see my buddies! Friends, I hope Father brings opportunities for you to refocus today. I hope you’re blessed with seeing an old friend, or that you make a new one.
Have a wonderful day everyone 🙂 .
