Replacing Kleenex & Making Lunch

This morning I was a tad out of my routine. I found myself doing little things around the house before I sat down at my desk. I had my morning talk with Father and while doing so felt a push to take care of things. Kind of strange I know, but afterward I did just that.

I did little things like, replace the box of Kleenex in the bathroom that had only one left. If you’re like me, you’ll grab a piece of toilet paper to wipe your nose for days, just so you don’t have to trudge to get the new box of Kleenex, and struggle to get the first few out of the box without destroying them. Who packs these things anyway… Woa, waaayyy off digression this morning, sorry πŸ™‚ . You get the idea though, just simple chores that quite honestly drive ya nuts when they aren’t done, but you’re too lazy to do them.

As I was in this mode, I decided to make lunch for my husband. He’s in budget planning season at work, so he’s got a little on his plate. I thought this might be a help, and it’s funny how I found myself having fun doing this. Seriously you think to yourself, having fun making a lunch? Yeah, I was like, “Hmmm, what can I put together to surprise him, make him feel loved when he opens the box”. Remember when we were kids and you’d have those days when your mom packed your lunch, you weren’t quite sure what you were going to get. I rummaged through the fridge and just opted for simple. Yeah, we’ve been married almost 40 years so I know what he likes and doesn’t.

So where am I going with this little blog this morning? You know, I guess I just wanted to share that it’s okay to take a little time to take care of the little things. It’s okay every now and then to fall out of your routine. And…more importantly, it’s okay to get out of your routine to lend a hand to others. Simple things like making a lunch for your spouse, buying a cup of coffee for a stranger, or sending a note to a friend, they make a difference in the lives of others. They show you care, and at the end of the day, that’s what Father asks us to do.

So, Happy Monday, here’s to changing the Kleenex box and making a lunch. I hope along the way today you can take care of the little things, and share a little bit of yourself with others. Have a great day my friends πŸ™‚ .
