The Broken Becomes Stronger

I’ve been reading the book written by Chad Hymas, “Doing What Must be Done”. Chad was the keynote speaker at our conference a few weeks ago and to say he is a testament to Faith, strength, and perseverance would be a slight understatement. He shares his story of becoming quadriplegic after an accident many years ago. He shares his brokenness, his anger, and his defeat, but more importantly, he shares his faith, his devotion to his family who cared for him 24/7, and his strength to come back even stronger after his broken bones were healed.

As I read this book, this book I can’t help be equate some of his challenges to events in my life. Will they ever be as severe as the challenges that Chad faced/faces, heaven’s no? However, the beauty of his book is the way he shows each reader that they too can be stronger after being broken. They too can find ways to make things better, to make life better even if limited by disabilities.

There will be times in our lives my friends when Father leads us in a direction, down a path that we are not sure if we are to travel. There will be times when our own human mistakes will be costly. There will be times when things just happen that are out of our control. Let’s face it, life is not always fair, this thing called life can and will be difficult. How we choose to face the challenges, and the mistakes, and walk the path that Father shows us, well, that will define us.

A few quotes from Chad’s book have stuck with me, and my guess is they might help someone else as well:
“When a broken bone heals, it is stronger in that place than it was before the break. It is the same with mental or emotional injury and healing. You can become stronger than before the injury. That is the beauty of healing. That is the gift of injury”. Chad Hymas

“All I have seen teaches me to trust the creator for all I have not seen”. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Don’t worry when you are not recognized but strive to be worthy of recognition”. – Abraham Lincoln

Yes my friends, there will be times in this life when we feel broken, we feel lost, or even betrayed. There will be things that happen that we cannot simply “fix”. It’s those times when we feel the most lost or the most pain, physical or mental, those are the times when we must give it to Father. He will help heal the brokenness. He, after all, knows that brokenness better than anyone. He knows the pain we feel, again whether physical or other, He feels that pain when we do.

So, this morning friends, I simply say, you are stronger than you know. With Father’s help, we can overcome the challenges put in our path, whether of our own doing or not. With Father’s help, we can heal, and through that healing, perhaps we can help others heal as well. Trust in Father my friends, He is always here 🙂 .

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
