Once a month our little community holds a happy hour. Residents sign up to host it, which means decorating as you choose or don’t decorate, setting out the silverware and plates, and setting up the area for beverages. Everyone brings a dish to share and whatever they want to drink. Most people bring enough beverages to share as well.
Last night was happy hour for October and the host went all out with the Halloween theme. It was very well attended as the seasonal residents are making their way back for the winter. It was great catching up with everyone and hearing about their time spent over the summer.
As I sat at a table with several other wives we got to talking about my recent job change. Everyone was interested in our church and I happily shared specifics about where we’re located, the programs we have, and the liturgy. We talked about our upcoming Christmas Market and some mentioned they had been to this and didn’t realize it was still happening. Everyone asked for specifics as it sounded like a great time and loved the idea of supporting our local businesses.
What happened next was fun to watch. Several women mentioned they were looking to get reconnected to a church. They had fallen away for a time since being here. We all chatted about our childhood and memories of going to church, or not. What was interesting was the way everyone was feeling the need to be back there, to be closer to Father.
I’ve mentioned quite a bit lately how I see God on the move. I see Him touching people more and more. Almost like He is tapping people on the shoulder saying, “Hey, remember ME”. People are openly discussing church and relationships with Father. As I grow closer in my relationship with Him, I’m stronger and more confident in talking about it openly, (duh, you say, this little blog kind of shows that).
My hope is as we all grow stronger in our faith, and in our relationship with God, we share it with others. You never know when someone will need to hear about it. You never know when your small conversation might just change the life of another person. You never know when you ask someone if you can pray for them if that might just be the prayer that gives them hope to keep going.
So friends, as we grow, let’s share. Let’s share His love of us with others and together we grow closer not only to each other but to God.
Have a great day everyone 🙂 .
