The Beauty in Front of Us

The past few days as I’ve glanced at social media, I’ve totally enjoyed looking at some amazing sunrise and sunset pictures. Friends have been in various locations from Colorado to IL and the skies have just been gorgeous. Even our local weather guys are sharing pictures of the skies over the last few days, commenting on the stunning oranges, pinks, and blues that fill the horizon.

The timing of things and the position of the sun right now has prevented me from capturing my own pictures. By the time I get home, the sun is setting over buildings and I can’t quite capture it. However, that will change next week when the time changes. We’ll be driving by the beach on the way home from work as the sun is setting, so I’m hoping to be blessed with pictures of Father’s painting of the sky.

What I’ve realized over the past week as I’ve enjoyed these pictures that friends are sharing, I’ve noticed that people are stopping to enjoy the sunsets, or are taking the time to get out and see the sunrise. People are making the time to see the beauty around them. Father has given such simple gifts, sunrises, sunsets, vegetation, flowers, lakes, streams, mountains, (even if snow-covered), oceans, incredible gifts that cost nothing.

Yesterday I was out on the dock at work just looking at the water and the sky. I was overtaken by just how beautiful it was and took the opportunity to say thank you to Father for the gift of the beauty I saw. I forget to do that sometimes, and I realize that this gift, the simple gift of His creation, that’s where it all started. Father created and gave us the gift of this place we all call home. Let’s be thankful for the beauty right in front of us.

Friends, I hope you get some time today to take a look at the gifts around you, stop, and look at the beauty right in front of you. Whether you live in the mountains, or near the ocean, or in the heartland of our nation, may you have time today to enjoy it. We don’t need a hefty bank account to enjoy the most important gifts we have been given.

Have a great day my friends. Oh and let me say a big thank you to Liz Brunson for the cover photo of today’s little blog, taken in Mill Creek Park, Marshall, IL.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
